The Rule Book, Slang, & The Truth about Surfing

It's time to renew your surfing knowledge with the current rule book, slang, and the truth about a few surf spots. Let's get to it:

Are the Unwritten Rules of Surfing Being Tossed?

Are the unwritten rules of surfing being tossed aside? Has the increasing number of new surfers pushed the line-up into a "wild west" format? Yes, there are rules. If they are not followed people can get hurt. They should be obeyed by everyone but lately it seems like they've fallen by the wayside. Don't say this can't happen because it's already happening. Is it too late to right the ship?

Common Surfing Terms and Slang

In this episode I cover some basic surfing terms and slang that you'll often hear spoken in the water and on the sand. There's a ton of terms that I did not cover. If you like this episode I'll produce a follow-up episode featuring more. Let me know in the comments which terms you'd like to see me add. Thanks for watching. I'm Brad Jacobson and I'll see you on the sand.

The Truth About SURFING Malibu

Surfing Malibu This is the one you've been asking for... the Truth About Surfing Malibu For this episode I only discuss First, Second and Third point. Yes, it's an incredible wave to surf, the people are beautiful and the houses are amazing but there's much more to it.

The Truth About Surfing in Los Angeles

Here's the truth about surfing in Los Angeles, to be more specific the South Bay region of Los Angeles. Forget the social media post. Photographers and videographers like myself only post the best waves of the day. What's the other 99% like? Yes, our beaches are some of the most crowded you'll find anywhere. Yes, the waves only get over head high in the winter and most of those close out. Comment below with your experience.

The Truth About Surfing the Wedge

Welcome to the dirty ol Wedge in Newport Beach, one of the craziest surf sports anywhere. Sadly, many people have been hurt, paralyzed and even killed attempting to ride this wave. Bruce Brow described the Wedge perfectly in his classic film "The Endless Summer" as a place "where you can catch a wave you didn't even want". The waves here can get well over 20ft and form some amazing barrels. Yes, the Wedge get's super crowded but if you can find that needle in the haystack you'll be rewarded with a lifelong memory.
