Koa Smith takes on night time river surfing at Waimea, enjoys a beach day surfing big, wild Waimea Bay and hanging out with @mylifeaseva , @CharlyJordanLife and friends. A river wave is created in fast flowing rivers or creeks, allowing a surfer to ride a wave for several minutes or more whilst standing stationary within the river. The force of the flow along an uneven river bed allows a standing wave to form, and the surfer to be able to ride the wave successfully. They are rare as local wave dynamics tend to be very specific. This river was caused by huge rain storms and flooding in Oahu, Hawaii.

Robertsport is Liberia's hidden gem. Filmed on the day prior to the Robertsport surf competition of more than 100 surfers. Many of the surfers are locals while some come from Monrovia to surf the left waves of the beaches.

So during my time in Lib, I was really keen to get a surf in. I had known about Robertsport for a few years and was stoked to be going to Monrovia with the chance of making it up to Robs. I knew it was going to be a hell of a drive, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite such an adventure. We headed north out of Monrovia and the roads progressively got worse and worse, ending in a dirt track with meter-deep holes in it. It took us 4hr to drive 120km. We had checked the surf and knew there would be some waves, as we navigated our way through the town or Rboertsport, my mouth was dry and my hands clammy, I had some hard, HARD stoke. The waves were on, ok it wasn't exactly pumping but it was enough for me to get in and get up. I had rented a board up in Monrovia, a 6'4 kinda floaty thing, but it was perfect for the limited power in the waves, I was really happy I wasn't on an Indo toothpick.
