Protecting Teahupo'o's Reef & More

Teahupo'o's Reef is so special. It's by far one of most beautiful waves on the planet and these videos will share some of it's unique qualities with you... Check these out:

Working Together to Protect Teahupo'o's Reef

To kick off the #OuterknownTahitiPro, World Surf League teamed up with Adobe and Shiseido along with #WeAreOneOcean coalition partners Coral Gardeners and Tahiti Iti Surfclub to help restore our ocean and protect Teahupo’o’s reef. Together we held a coral workshop that drew a crowd of over 100 people from WSL Championship Tour surfers to local surfers and keikis (kids in Polynesian). Threatened by climate change, healthy coral reefs are among Earth’s most biologically diverse ecosystems and they provide vital ecological services. Inspired by their importance, with the help of volunteers and surfers, we were able to add to Coral Gardener’s growing nursery over 500 heat-resistant corals, which will eventually be replanted to create a stronger reef. Mauruuru roa to everyone who joined us in raising local and global awareness about the importance of preserving coral reefs. Special thanks to friends old and new, now all part of the #WeAreOneOcean and Coral Gardeners family. Inspired by these efforts? Share what you're doing to make an impact in your community by using the template on the #AdobeExpress app and sharing your creation on social with #CreateWaves and #WeAreOneOcean, tagging @Adobe and @WSL for a chance for your post to be seen in the leadup to the WSL Finals in September.#wsl

TEAHUPO'O | THROUGH THE LENS OF DOM MOSQUEIRA

In this film we dive deep into the life of big wave surf photographer Dom Mosqueira. Spending his youth as a vagabond Dom sailed his way to Tahiti and never left. Living in proximity to one of the worlds biggest and most dangerous waves, Dom Mosqueira risks life and limb in pursuit of the perfect photograph of world class surfers riding the worlds most dangerous wave, Teahupo'o. Surf photography perfected through the lens of Dom Mosqueira. He was born in Mexico, schooled in Canada, worked for Richard Branson in the British Virgin Islands and discovered his new home, Tahiti, while sailing around French Polynesia — Dom Mosqueira might just be the most interesting photographer in the world. You’ve seen his work on the cover of SURFING and beyond, most often from the water at Teahupo’o. We have always been fascinated with people who followed their passions, lived with an almost singular focus, and done so successfully. Living the type of lives that don’t fit into our societal norms. The lives most people dream of. The ones that leave us wondering how these people pull it off? What did they do differently that not only allowed them to pursue their passions, but were actually able to do so with real success. Leading self sufficient, thriving lives in high risk, unconventional ways. We spend our days seeking out these individuals and telling their stories through our short films. We have focused on artists, athletes, and adventurers that threw caution to the wind, laid it all on the line, and actually pulled it off! Find out what makes these high performing individuals tick. Dive into the minds of some of our generations most fascinating humans through cinematic adventures told through our lens. We will be releasing teasers content and behind the scenes stories to go along with and build up to the release of the actual short films. We will be releasing new content across our social channels daily and new posts here bi weekly. So if you like what you see, subscribe and give us a follow so you don’t miss anything. In the meantime, buckle up, cause it’s gonna be a wild ride Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pirateandpalm/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/PIRATEANDPALM Twitter https://twitter.com/pirateandpalm Website www.pirateandpalm.com
