What an absolute trip to be home in New Jersey for the biggest swell I've ever seen & end up in California for this Historic Blacks Beach XXL San Diego 20-25ft Surf forecast. According to Surfline the San Pedro buoy reached a whopping 16.7ft @ 18 seconds, the biggest ever recorded since the buoy was installed in 2004. Lunada Bay Palos Verdes | Biggest LA Surf since last Winter
The biggest surf to hit CA since last Jan '23 hit today. The next swell is on track for the weekend and is likely to be in the same size class. Swell direction looks even more west, so SoCal could be a little bigger than Thu/Fri.
RAW Surf| Steamer Lane goes XL after Christmas
The end of the year in California is getting some exciting wave action. A large swell has come in and is smashing into the coast heavily in the northern breaks. Surfline forecasted 20-25 ft waves, and these looked every bit as big as the 25-30's i've seen at Mavericks. Obviously nothing compares to the legendary big wave spot on a good day, but small handful of Santa Cruz surfers had a treat by way of some XL surf today. Thanks for watching.
Swamis – Thursday, December 28th – First Big Swell of El Niño Winter 2023/2024
Tested out some filming this evening with the Canon R5 and this new 100-500mm RF lens during the biggest swell I've been home for in a while. Taylor Knox and Joel Tudor were out, along with many others, including some who probably shouldn't have paddled. It was big and west, with a lot of closeouts, but definitely some good ones.
